The sooty lashed vamp depicted on the cover of the Hollywood menu and the two ladies frolicking in a champagne glass refers to the elaborately costumed showgirls who put on floor shows nightly, accompanied by an orchestra. The revues mimicked scenes from Hollywood films and one critic pointed out that the girls were
